Lexington and I-75. Midway, Ky., is in the Woodford County Midway Historic District and is

OUR VICTORIAN BUILDING:
The brick two story commercial building with Italianate architectural details is believed to
have been built about 1880-82 by Henry Baxter Russell for his Central Saloon. He
operated both a saloon and coffee house here until about 1915, with living quarters
above. An African American organization, the Sons and Daughters of Relief, then
purchased the building and operated a bar/restaurant downstairs and meeting room
upstairs. The building is listed with the Blue Grass Trust and National Register of Historic
Places (as part of the Midway Historic District).
